Town's U18s completed their league programme with a 0-0 home draw with Millwall at Playford Road on Friday afternoon. Striker Jordan Rhodes came close to breaking the deadlock in the closing stages, but overall the two defences were on top.

Town continued their good late run with a 5-1 thrashing of Barnsley. Gary Roberts started the rout in the first minute and George O'Callaghan added a second on half-time. Daniel Nardiello pulled one back for the visitors, but Danny Haynes, Franny Jeffers and Jon Walters settled the result.

Town have announced the names of this summer's new academy scholars. The seven youngsters will start full-time at Playford Road in July, although many of them have already played for the U18s and Jack Ainsley has even come on as a sub for the reserves on two occasions.

Town's attacking toothlessness in front of goal was again on display as the Blues lost 1-0 at Preston despite having the majority of the possession. Another defensive lapse led to Michael Ricketts heading home the game's only goal in the fifth minute.

A last-gasp goal handed the Blues a 1-0 defeat for the second away game in succession. Town had largely been the better side and ought to have been in front but it was Barnsley who took the points courtesy of Grant McCann's debut goal in injury time.
